I guess the thing for 2010 and radio shows are "awards". We were asked if we planned to do an "awards show" or a "best of 2009" show. The answers is no. Not that we don't enjoy these show that do this, because we do. But we could not, in any way, make selections from our list of guests over the past year and say that certain guests are better or more popular than others. We aren't really concerned about "numbers" or Archive Hits or how many people listen to our show. We are here to have fun, meet amazing and informational people, give our listeners a chance to hear from the people they want to hear from, and spend a few hours a week with our friends here on Facebook! We learn something new from each and every guest, and we learn something new from each and every listener - and that is the amazing thing to us! Do we always agree with thoughts, theories and personal opinions? Nope. But we respect them and they always leave us asking questions and wanting to learn more from another's point of view. And our listeners - and we have the best listeners in world! - feel the same. They don't always agree with us or our guests, but they listen and try to see things from another's point of view as well. And speaking of our listeners - one word comes to mind, and that is AWESOME! So I guess if we were to give out awards, the first ones would go to our listeners who join us each Sunday and Wednesday, and who have become more than simply listeners to us, they have become our friends. Kind of reminds me of the Cheers Theme: Making your way in the world today Takes everything you've got; Taking a break from all your worries Sure would help a lot. Wouldn't you like to get away? All those night when you've got no lights, The check is in the mail; And your little angel Hung the cat up by it's tail; And your third fiance didn't show; Sometimes you want to go Where everybody knows your name, And they're always glad you came; You want to be where you can see, Our troubles are all the same; You want to be where everybody knows your name. Roll out of bed, Mr. Coffee's dead; The morning's looking bright; And your shrink ran off to Europe, And didn't even write; And your husband wants to be a girl; Be glad there's one place in the world Where everybody knows your name, And they're always glad you came; You want to go where people know, People are all the same; You want to go where everybody knows your name. Where everybody knows your name, And they're always glad you came; Where everybody knows your name, And they're always glad you came.... And, along with our friends who join us for each show, we have an amazing staff who everyone has come to know pretty well also! Aside from myself and Kris Preston and Sharon Kincaid, each show we are assisted by "Spooked" aka Laura Schier, who can somehow simultaniously moderate the chatroom and man the switchboard for incoming callers. I admire this ability more than any other because, as most of you know very well, I am not a multi-tasker, and if I so much as look at the chatroom during a show I get lost! But Laura makes it look easy, and we could not do the show without her! The same goes for Josh Woods, who seems to have the same multi-tasking talents as Laura, and who will occassionally pop on the line before the show starts with a somewhat scary "Helllooooooo". And Sarah Andrews, who helps moderate the chatroom, as well as fills in as a host occassionally and serenades listeners in the chatroom - specifically our favorite commentator, Thag! They have an 80's music thing going on, and it occassionally carries over to the show, and generally has everyone singing along! (Thag actually performed a LIVE version of Thriller on our December 30th Year In Review Show!) Thag is one of the unique individuals who found his way into our hearts immediately; first as a listener and then as a repeat guest! To know Thag is to love Thag! You won't meet a more caring and humorous and genuine guy! We love having our listeners, our friends, on the show, and I personally would love to have "NotoriousDreams" aka Lucia join us on a show as a guest or a guest co-host! (Hint, hint, hint, Lucia!) I will also take this opportunity to drop a few not-so-subtle hints to Erin, Cathie, Rob, Vampsman, HillbillyHauntings, DDP...the list could go on forever! So, in closing, our award for the best of 2009 goes to ALL OF YOU! Guests, listeners, friends, staff, and even to those friends we have yet to meet! Any success we have experienced is because of you! And if we could, you would ALL be getting award in the mail! We look forward to 2010, and bringing you more fun and exciting shows, great guests, and meeting more of you and getting to know you better!
